:18 DiaryJanuary
January has been a quiet hectic, as David has been taken from the rehabilitation place to the hospital several times and going to work and then visiting him was a bit stressful. He spend his 92nd birthday there. But Jim has his 88th birthday and we went to see a modern ballet. February
During this month David has been in hospital so visiting him every evening during the cold nights was a challenge. I also celebrated the first 50th birthday of one of my friends and to my surprise I was nominated by my staff and was named manager of the year by Enfield Council, and won an award March
David is back home but having to work I needed to get carers to look after him but was transferred to a local Library where I can pop in easily to check on him. The Beast of the East weather brought some snow and very cold days. My birthday came and went with Jim to see Brief Encounter, the musical version. April
We started the month with bad news as Jim could not come to stay with us. We also have the visit to Arnold and his family from Bermuda and also David's church friends from London. I managed to get out twice to London to the pub and met Marty his friends from the USA. May
This month David is was taken to hospital due to anaemia and he was back home with more bedsores! So another month to recover now. I didn't do much only going to Wembley to see Spurs 5 - Leicester 4. Amazing Match! I also welcome my sister Andrea and Monica home. June
Summer is coming and the weather has been amazing. David now back home and improving from his bed sores, but his muscles are totally gone, which is impossible for him to be able to move properly. Started biking again. Thomas and Chester came for a visit. Great help from friends and neighbours supporting me! July
In July I went to The Cure Concert in Hyde Park and The Pet Shop Boys at Covent Garden. My sister departed after a month. David health started improving slowly but having problems in swallowing. A hoist and a chair has been sent so he can sit down soon. Visits from Jacques from France and David. August
I decided this month to leave the job for 5 months as looking after David as well as a full time job was taking a lot of my energy, so focusing on him was a good choice. Neil and Alan came for a visit and my cousin visited London for the first time. Weather was amazing but not much time for sunbathing. September
David continues to improve and we have the hoist and the future chair where he will be able to sit down during the days for a couple of hours. Visits from Faisal, Roger, Fred, David and Rex were good for David as he might get bored with me. I also went to Wayne's party by the Thames river! October
This month started with thomas and Chester visiting us as well as David from Christchurch and Keith from Lincoln. It was good to see them all as we don't have many friends visiting us. I also went to the theatre with Ian to see The Inheritance. I would recommend it to everybody to see it as it was phenomenal! November
It has been a year since I haven't taken a holiday and everybody suggested I should take some before I go mental caring for David 24hs. So looking for a carer to replace me was hard but I managed to find one. So after that and my luggage ready, Florida was my destination. Planned a nice cruise and Jim came with me. December
Coming back from the short holidays and found David with more complications than I did when I left him. He as in hospital having transfusions and with bed sores. So I am back to stage 1 again. Spending a quiet time for Xmas and looking forward to get David a bit back in shape. |
